Measurements

Every measurement should be pre- and appended with 5s of 0A for drift-correction in postprocessing

Plan

Impact on LHC cycles on SFT

Set $N$, $M$

1. Pre-cycle
2. Play SFT $N$ times
3. Play SFT alternated with LHCPILOT $M$ times
4. Play SFT $N$ times

Repeat with different $N$ and $M$, preferably $N\in \{3,\dots ,20\}$, $M\in \{1,20\}$

Repeat with AWAKE, HiRadMat Repeat with MD1 in between SFT and SFT or LHC

Staircase cycles

For certain waveforms from above, convert to staircase with in principle

• $0A$ for 5s
• Ramp (1s)
• Flat for 4 seconds
• Ramp (1s)
• …

In principle, sample a point every $50A$ up and down. An SFT with $I_{max}\approx 1800A$ would then need 72 plateaus for the full cycle, or 360s, or 6 min. Assuming a waveform with 20x SFT, this would take 2 hours.

RECOMMENDATION

Do the [study on LHC and SFT cycles](####Impact on LHC cycles on SFT) first, and determine which waveforms to play.

Execution

HOLEC down until Wed 15 Nov morning (18kV missing). Measurements not possible until afternoon.

Experiments from dipole measurements with changing supercycles have been repeated.

1h + 30m of randomized LSA cycles played. Staircase cycles failed due to too high $I_{RMS}$ that caused the HOLEC to trip.

Measurement set to be extended by Vincenzo from 20 Nov.
